Last weekend, I took a brief trip to Washington, DC to see friends. It was a short trip, but I was able to work in brunch at a favorite restaurant in DC, Le Diplomate, as well as a walk through Kalorama, one of DC’s most beautiful neighborhoods.
Le Diplomate is a popular French bistro with charming Parisian-inspired decor and a bright charming atmosphere. The food selections are decadent and delicious. To work up an appetite before brunch, I took a walk through Kalorama, an exclusive enclave the features stately homes right in the heart of the city. Here you will also see many embassies and ambassadorial residences.
When I think of a fall weekend trip, I immediately think of cardigans, like this one I wore from J. Crew. It is an easy piece to layer with, and the shawl collar provides just a bit of dressiness, which makes it brunch appropriate. Of course, since it is fall after all, I was drawn to the hazel-brown color. With an interesting statement piece like this, just keep the rest of the outfit simple — a gray T, white jeans, and loafers.
