The Nautilus South Beach was my home base in Miami during Model Volleyball Weekend (full story on that coming soon). The hotel is quintessentially South Beach, with its art deco exterior, but with an updated interior that exudes chicness. It is ideally located right in the thick of things on Ocean Drive, just a stone’s throw from all the action on Lincoln Road. Best of all, you can walk right out the back of the hotel onto the beach, where your lounge chair awaits.

After a long day of Model Volleyball, the first thing I want to do is relax by the beach. There’s a chaise lounge chair already set up for me, and a Nautilus attendant brings me everything I need: a towel, a drink, and an afternoon snack. It doesn’t get much better than this!
The warm sun and sound of the waves put me right to sleep. I always take the best naps on the beach! After some glorious downtime, I feel like a change of scene and decide to head to the Nautilus pool. The afternoon pool party was in full swing: beautiful people and a live Cuban band on the patio. With attentive food and drink service proving everything I need, I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the pool.
At this point, I’m fully in the South Beach state of mind. I’m already very happy, but why not start happy hour? The back of the hotel has a picture-perfect lawn area with lots of seating options. It’s a perfect place to gather with friends for cocktails and conversation.
It’s getting late in the afternoon and I feel like going out to explore South Beach for a bit. Luckily, the Nautilus provides bikes–just pick up the key from the concierge. On my way out, I stop at the charming café for an espresso to go. I bike along the boardwalk, taking in the scene of beachgoers and resort patrons along the way.
I get back to the Nautilus just in time for sunset. The hotel has an amazing roof deck with stunning views of South Beach. It’s the perfect place to end the perfect day, a glass of white wine in hand.
